The March third Saturday walk was a big success. Stepping out of the Putnam border, the group enjoyed some great birds at Croton Point in Westchester County.

It all began while it was still dark as a few participants enjoyed seeing/hearing a few Woodcocks doing their breeding display right before sunrise.

Following the Woodcock walk Sean and I brought the group to Croton Train Station where we enjoyed the continuing female Long-Tailed Duck that has been hanging out with some Bufflehead Ducks. This Sea Duck is uncommon on the Hudson River.

After seeing a great array of birds at the Train Station including Green-Winged Teal, Bald Eagle, and Tree Swallows, we met the rest of the group for the scheduled 8 am walk.

On this walk we brought the group around the landfill and other parts of Croton Point Park. We enjoyed Kestrels hunting over the landfill, another sign of spring was a few Killdeers which flew over the group calling like mad! The group enjoyed several Bald Eagles of all ages during the trip.

All in all, a great trip.
