The Geology of Breakneck Ridge

  • 3007 Bear Mountain-Beacon Hwy, Cold Spring, NY 10516 (map)

Little Stony Point Visitors Center, Route 9D, Cold Spring

Breakneck Ridge is one of the crown jewels of the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, climbing 1,250 feet in just under a mile, containing some of the most interesting geologic formations this side of the Hudson River. Join Conor Dobson, Trail Steward and SCA member, as we explore the foundations of rocks and minerals, get hands-on with local boulders, and understand just how Breakneck Ridge ended up the way it is.

*An important note, this educational program will NOT include hiking the actual Breakneck Ridge trail*
